Photographer, Chris Peken spent a day with Oasis Africa Australia Secondary School Scholarship student, Nancy in early 2015. The photographs he took throughout that day are depicted and highlight the opportunity to support these incredible children through the gift of education via the Oasis Africa Australia scholarship program.

2 October 2014:  Brought up in rural India, Stephen O’Brien had insight into how people live in places where few of us venture. Stephen’s 25 years in financial services - including almost 5 years as CEO of Deutsche AM - have given him the opportunity to realise some long-cherished plans to make a difference. He talks to Industry Moves about his former life in financial services, and a valuable educational organisation that is dear to his heart...

...In 2005 when a great friend came back from a humanitarian mission in Africa and explained he needed some urgent help with the 50 children he'd just 'rescued' in Kibera, Nairobi, I knew it was time to act on my childhood commitment. May 2014: The annual Oasis Africa fundraising event on 1 May 2014 was sensational. Thank you to all who made this night such a success.

Held at the Civic Hotel in Sydney's CBD, a night of drinks, fine food, Brazillian drummers and dancers, live performances by Deni Hines and Charmaine, great company, African Art by world renowned artist Gabrielle Pool and Kenyan photography by Steve O'Brien was enjoyed by all.

Raising much needed funds for the children supported by Oasis Africa.

March 2014: Oasis Africa Australia Co-founder Kim Winter accompanied by Njeri Kamau and board member Stephen O'Brien visited Nairobi in March 2014, visited Kibera and the projects of Oasis Africa Australia.


Congratulations to the 2013 team Oasis Africa members Caroline Ndong (6th consecutive Nissan Triathlon), the legendary Kim Winter and Lucy Walker (1st Triathlon... on only 3 hours sleep) for the top effort at this year's Nissan Corporate Triathlon Series 2013 in Sydney! Funds raised from their effort go towards the kids of Kibera.
